If you suspect or are considering reporting child sexual abuse - then there are some important things that you need to know!

When you report concerns about child sexual abuse, a number of different people and agencies become involved. The agencies oversee and carry out the various procedures that are required to assess your concerns and ensure the care and protection of the child.

Each of the agencies have their own job to do and their own priorities - and sometimes it is easy for the caregivers/family to get lost and feel confused and taken for granted. This adds to the trauma that the child and family are already experiencing.

The worst thing that can happen when sexual abuse is reported is that child’s caregivers/family are left awash in a sea of processes they do not understand and feel that they have no control over.
