WHAT IS THE "WWHIIT?" PROGRAMME? The WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I TELL? programme consists of a collection of inter-related resources designed to: · Empower the parents and/or caregivers of sexually abused children by informing them of the process that is put into motion when child sexual abuse is reported. This lets the parents/caregivers know what is supposed to happen, when it is likely to happen, what is involved at each stage, what their and their child's rights are, how to get the support that is available and how to express their concern in an effective way if they feel things are not going they way they should. · Encourage the reporting of sexual abuse and protect other children from the abuser, ensure that the abused child gets the care and counselling that is their right and thereby assist in breaking the cycle of sexual abuse. · To provide an information resource giving a holistic overview of the process for the benefit of all social workers and support people, professional and voluntary, who work with sexually abused children, their parents/caregivers and with the offenders.
WHAT ARE THE 'RESOURCES' THAT MAKE UP THE "WWHIIT?" PROGRAMME?
· A Multi-Media CDROM · A 30minute documentary video designed specifically to empower and reassure the parents and caregivers of sexually abuse children · A support booklet for the Parent and Caregiver video tape · A 12minute shorter version of the above video edited specifically as an overview - information resource for social workers, community and other support workers working with sexually abused children and their parents and caregivers · A 20minute documentary video that explores why a programme like "WWHIIT?" is such a valuable resource in dealing with the costly and damaging trauma related to child sexual abuse and how this kind of intervention can assist in breaking the cycle. · A support booklet for the Social Work Resource and Documentary video tapes · The registered URL (internet domain name) “childsafenz.org” · An Internet web site at http://www.childsafenz.org · An Email address at info@childsafenz.org |
