ChildsafeNZ.org came about when the What Will Happen If I Tell? Project needed an on-line presence and EMFANZ stepped up as a sponsor for the web site and web hosting. ChildsafeNZ.org has since expanded into an advocacy and resource for the health and welfare of all children in Aotearoa New Zealand and welcomes links and information that supports this mission. The webmaster can be contacted at info@childsafenz.org. |

The website is maintained and hosted free by the Electronic Media Foundation Aotearoa New Zealand Charitable Trust |

EMAIL PETITION A PETITION IS CIRCULATING BY EMAIL THAT ASSERTS THAT THE CHILDREN OF NZ ARE BEING LET DOWN BY OUR LEGAL SYSTEM. IS THIS TRUE? A response to the proposition /petition that "the NZ legal system is letting down our children".
NZ Children ARE NOT being "let down" by the legal system any more than a broken corpse at the bottom of the cliff can be said to be "let down" by the ambulance arriving late. ______________________________ THE ChildSafeNZ.org SAFE PETS Project
The SAFE PETS PROJECT is a multimedia DVD/Video for parents and children: 'SAFE PETS' deals with pet care and safety and safety around your pets, other people's pets and strays. In very easy language that will neither patronize the parents nor confuse the kids, it demystifies the basic psychology behind pet behaviour; how to learn and use a few very simple tricks and safety precautions to avoid injury and confrontation in all common situations. It deals with all common pet animals, in particular dogs, and it covers diseases and hygiene. The information is condensed into a very watchable 30min so as not to over reach the average attention span. Multi-cultural versions are planned. The DVD version also contains extra information and picture booklets in PDF format which can be downloaded to a home computer and printed out in full colour to create attractive "children's Books" - a little after the style of the original Safe Playing Programme classroom books designed for the Safe Playing Programme. |

THE CHILD SAFETY & WELFARE INFORMATION BANK The ChildSafeNZ.org LINKS page (CLICK HERE) is being developed as a comprehensive Information Bank and resource for all child safety and welfare purposes. This is currently under construction and if you have suggestions for appropriate links, please email them to the webmaster. CLICK HERE _____________________ A MESSAGE To those of our Elected Representatives who supported our right to beat our children. As a culture we devalue our children. Case in point: when a farmer sticks a 4yr old on an ATV that was a death trap even for an adult and lets her ride off while he turns his back and makes a cell phone call, and she is killed as a result - he is not prosecuted (because he has already suffered enough). While the child is dead, we turn the farmer into the victim and he gets off scot free. I have more examples - but my claim is self evident isn’t it?
